Hello,

Anyone have any useful code, literature references suggested to learn how to size a propane tank? This is to supply a propane water heater.

Thanks for any help

I do not think so. It comes down to how often do you want to have to fill it. Homeland Security made an effort to limit the maximum size.

Look at NFPA 58.

Also look at these. They likely have too much information but they cover a lot of material that goes into a propane system.

Rule of thumb (from a propane provider) - size the tank and piping for 24 hour total operation for a week. The provider will monitor the actual usage for the first month or so to see how long it lasts. That will determine the refill/delivery schedule.
