Greetings

I am trying to design a full face flange joint to EN13121-3 (a newish and untested EU code for GRP/FRP tanks and vessels).

The flange design procedure is different to ASME or BS, in that it requires gasket surface sealing stress.

Can anyone give any data on solid EPDM gasket material of 6 mm thickness and softness of about 50 - 60 Shore A or (IRHD)?

I am looking for Young's Modulus and a suggested surface compressive stress to seal say 1- 1.5 bar on 600 dia flange - temperature range -10°C to + 30°C.

The precise requirement is values of Qmin and Qsmin(L) from EN1591 or EN13555.

A value for Poisson's ratio would also help (I am currently using 0.49 on FEA).

Regards
