property name drop down menu

I recently got a 2011-2012 student version, upgrading from a 2010-2011 version. When I go to make a template or add the "name" properties it is blank. My old templates show the name properties as they were but I cannot add any more. I found the text file on my computer for this but it will not work. Drawings are very important to learn and I am crippled now in this area. The other drop down menus work in the properties tab but not the names. HELP!!!!

Make sure you path to your older properties.txt file under System Options > File Locations

Did that and no results. I notice now that when I have multiple files open Windows 7 is not showing them. Could this be an OS problem? I am running Windows 7 Ultimate. Never had that problem before with it, have used for over a year.

Magic Its probibly one of two things, or both, non approved video card or low sys memory. What is your video card and how much memory do you have? I have win 7 ultimate and have no problem. I am running Nvidia Quatro 550? -I think- and 4 gig memory. The "?" is for 550.I am not using my laptop right now so I'm not shure of the # designation of my card.

I am running an Nvidia Quadro which is approved for Solidworks. I made sure of that before I built the system. I had no problems with the previous student version, only with this one. Do I need to uninstall previous version? Perplexed.
