Hello! I'm working on a renovation and have been trying to put together the history of this building. As far as I understand this building was first constructed in around 1950, with some pretty standard joists and some sort of plank deck (unit slab or something of the sort). A few years later (sometime between 1952-1956), an addition gets constructed, this time with what appears to be similar Kalmantruss/Bates x-joists. From what I understand though these sorts of x-systems were really only a "thing" in the 1930's or so, so it's extremely weird to see them appear two decades later. Does anyone have any additional history on these joist systems they could share? It's more of a personal curiosity at this point. I'll post some photos when I get a chance.
