Does anybody have any experience of using proprietary concretes for structural or non structural purposes?

We use CESWI as the basis of our specification, which refers to the standard cement blends (OPC, CEM I, CEM II etc.), typically used in a designed or designated mix.
We've been looking recently at the use of low carbon concretes (Cemfree etc.), which appear to fall outside of industry specifications.

Are these proprietary products covered by any third party certification, or does it basically require the specifier take a 'punt' on a product?

I understand that these products are typically supplied to be placed by a main contractor, hence allowing the "they didn't place it correctly" argument if there is any problems with performance.

Just interested to hear of and good/bad experience with these concretes.

Thanks,

RME
