we have a need to sense if a discharge hose has been connected to a truck mounted tanker. the hose is connected to the tanker by way of a 100 mm "camlock coupling" - male on the tanker and female on the hose.

we are looking at mounting some sensor on the female part of the coupling which could sense that the female has been connected to the male. both parts of the coupling are made of stainless steel. we wish to avoid a prx switch with strick pin or similar as this may operate when coupling not connected e.g. against a wll/column. ideally some sensor (possibly RF) which can sense when the coupling is made

would greatly appreciate any suggestions

thanks and regards
pj

Any intrinsically safe circuit may be used. A sensor may be magnetic, specially designed pressure transducer or limit switch, sonar or RF transponder, etc.
