How often should plant PSV's be checked for re- certification/legal purposes?
Our Plant has been running a year; the PSV were orignally tested in June 03 whilst still in the factory.

The testing frequency depends upon the application. Different codes and standards apply to different industries and locations. API RP 14C requires annual testing offshore. I think that ASME requires annual testing on fired boilers. However, some units may not be tested for a few years. The insurance carrier may also set requirements. What country - industry, etc. apply?

John,
Thanks, yes, I am also used to annual testing elswhere too, especially for offshore. The location is onshore Korea, and its a small Gas/condensate plant used as a gathering point for offshore. The equipment is the usual;slugcatcher,Inlet Separator, Mol Sieves,JT valve, condensate tower, gas compressor, gas fired hot oil heater, flare system.
Im trying to pursuade our maintenance dept. to check all the PSV's and Im not sure of their National requirements but would like to know other countries requirements.

fired vessels may be different but ASME typically has a maximum of 5 years for most devices.

My field is a little bit different, but here we are also testing the PSVs anually.

veec,
If this is not restricted by law in your country, you may extend the test the PSV from annual basis. Your previous collected inspection reports will tell you that you can (or cannot) extend the inspection program to 2 or up to 5 years as Benthayer's post.
