Hello,
This is regarding reduction of PSV(conventional valve)set pressure of the existing facility where few modifications are being done .PSV (sized for blocked outlet) is around 350 m away from the source of pressurization(PCV xxx) .Please refer to the attched sketch. I may have to reduce the PSV set pressure by a value equivalent to pressure loss from source (PCV xx) to PSV. To do that, I need to know ans of the following Q’s:
i) Whether Pressure loss to be calculated from PCV xxx to junction of PSV inlet pipe or till PSV inlet
ii) What capacity should I consider for pressure loss, rated or normal max(required).
iii) What operating conditions should I consider for pressure drop . Same conditions as we consider for PSV inlet line size check i.e., relieving condition (Op pressure= relieving pressure & equivalent properties) .
I have checked that line pressure loss from PCV to PSV is less than 3% of PSV set pressure for rated capacity. Therefore, reduction of PSV set point is not required. However, to ensure the safety, I need to do other checks for the system and appreciate if you could pl response to above Q’s. Many thanks
