I have a situation where I am evaluating the option to use a 3/4" puddle weld on a 36/9 pattern. My question is what kind of, if any, restrictions are there on puddle weld spacing for deck attachment? The deck is 1.5B 18 gauge. When using a 36/9 pattern, the attachment is 'stacked' at the ends of the pattern. For things like HILTI pins, I've never worried about it since they are smaller and can be more closely spaced, but I do not know if puddle welds have any restrictions. For example, if there was a 4" wide beam that was support this deck, pattern, and attachment, is that sufficient width to place (2) 3/4" puddle welds in the same valley of the deck?
