Hi folks,
where can i find some "free" info on detailed standards for pump acceptance tests?
Actually, we normally go for motor checks, ppump performance checks (head, capacity, power, NPSH), logic checks (start/stop, duty/standby), vibration, noise etc...
Can anyone tell what other tests are performed?
Thnx...

if you are buying a pump +50 kW then buying a standard will not ruin your budget.

Try to look in API610 if you are dealing with a pump for refinery service/oil & gas. I think most of what is listed here also could be used for normal pumps.

sb00,

You may find the information that you want on the "Hydraulic Institute" website. The address is The organization develops and sells design, construction and performance standards for the chemical processing industry.

It sounds like you are asking for the proper tests when you purchase pumps, however, it is my opinion that not every pump purchased requires an expensive NPSH test......

It has also been my experience that a hydrostatic test of the pump casing should be required for all pumps ( relatively cheap)

You want everything "free" ?? Good luck, pal......I believe that you should pay for engineering standards (which are the work developed by others)

My thoughts only.....

Man, when u can get it for free, why waste money? Afterall, very competitive environment these days!
Thnx guys. I have gone to and also scoured hydraulic institute website. But all have to be purchased! Cronin, is hydrostatic test same as hydrotest? Hydrotest is mandatory for all equipments and we also get it done for our equipments.
thnx...

In this field i think you will discover that unless you steal it (e.i. gets an un-authorised copy) then you must pay!

Your company might have in-house standards. Again: Buying a standard wont ruin your budget if your pump is large enough to care about standards.

Best regards
