Hi,

Would an api pump has to be supplied with the api base plate requirement such as having flat machined plate on the footing of the equipments : Motor, gearbox, pump.

The reAson for flat machine is to have a proper shimming on the motor and gearbox.

Anyone has any experience of having problem with the misalignments issue for using fabricated base ?.

Second things, how you evaluate on the quality of welding of baseplate, would usually client evaluate the procedures before allowing fabricator to fabricate the baseplate

Do you have access to API 686 (Machinery Installation)?

I am not familiar with API676 but API610 requires baseplate flatness. I would expect API676 to have the same.

I am not sure I agree but maybe I don't understand what you are trying to say here.

There are a large number of problems caused by baseplates. For horizontal machines, misalignment between the shafts of two different rotating equipments can be accomodated with shims. On certain vertical pumps, baseplate (or soleplate) needs to be flat and level. Again, I'm not sure I understand the question fully.

API610 invokes AWS D1-1 for baseplate fabrication. For very important pieces of equipment, I would request weld procedures and PQRs for our welding guy to review.

Actually, i dont ve a guide on the api 676, any idea if surface roughness of the footing of baseplate. What is the acceptance criteria of surface roughness, I could only trace by google it partial information 25 microinches arithmetic.
