Pump KickBack Surge Scenario

Dear All,

I would like to enquire about when do we have to consider the scenario of pump kickback , I have seen it mentioned in one of the good engineering practices but I believe this would be applicable when the minimum flow recycle is equipped with Automatic recycle check valve rather than a sluggish conventional minimum flow control loop.

Please define your term "pump kickback" .... This is not in common usage.

Google searches on this term yield nothing.

Do you mean hydraulic shock/waterhammer on pump shut-down ?

Give us reputable engineering references rather than "Everybody says" .... or "a white haired guy once told me"

Sorry but this question makes no sense to me.

You need to explain yourself much better and what your question is.

You need to consider all relevant scenarios which can cause excess pressure, flow or actions which can cause excessive wear.

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

to answer your questions, I am referring to water hammering surge scenarios and the good engineering practice am referring to is Shell DEP 31380125- General Piping Requirements , I am not sure whether you guys are familiar with it or have access to it and I was respecting the confidentiality of Shell and that's why I don't paste the exact statements mentioned in their guidelines. I am equally questioning the terminology of kickback since it can be extended to shutdown/ recycle etc.

I see absolutely no reason for misjudging others while stating :'' Give us reputable engineering references rather than "Everybody says" .... or "a white haired guy once told me". We are in a professional forum and if a question is unclear, there is no need to over react.
