I was hoping to get some help selecting a pump for our sour water system. My facility is a Re-refinery. We refine used lube oil.

The process water stream contains H2S and is first stripped at a sour water stripper. Then the vapor stream is sent to a scrubber that has a 15 gpm recycle stream and a 2 gpm blowdown stream. The pump that was originally installed burned out quickly and every pump we have put in since quickly gets build up on it from some sulfur deposit.

We know we have to get our chemistry balanced to help prevent the precipitation of sulfur but still need to select a pump that can handle H2S in water along with sodium hydroxide and hydrogen peroxide. The 2 main criteria would be precipitation prevention and corrosion resistance.

The 3 choices are:
1. Ansi-Mag: Mag Drive pump (1x1.5x6) with ETFE coated impeller and casing. 10 hp for $6,600
2. Goulds: Mag Drive pump (1x1.5x8) with ETFE coated impeller and casing. 7.5 hp for $10,800
3. Grundfos: 6-stage Mag Drive Pump with 316 SS internals for $3,200.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Allan
