I need to pump hot oil (150 F) into a heat exchanger at multiple flow rates (max 5 gpm). Can anyone recomend a cheap pump that will be able to pump this hot oil (SAE 10) at a variable flow rate.

Someone had previously remonded a drill pump that hooks up to a normal hand drill.

Thank you for your comments

"at multiple flow rates (max 5 gpm)."

Explain Multiple flow Rates, What is changing the flow? What is the max pressure at the pump outlet? How much contamination?

If this is a Scavenger Pump in a low point that has to move bypass oil back to tank with little resistance, any Cheap and Dirty gear pump will work fine as long as it never runs dry. It will be caviating most of the time but that is not a problem as long as it has lubrication and its Outle is at low pressure.

Used all the time to scavenge gear box housings.

The 150 Deg heat is at or below the gear pumps in most engines that pump oil to all nlubrication points for thousands of miles.

it is going to pump oil through a small heat exchanger and then into a tank at atmospheric pressure.

The whole point is to test tube inserts, so I need to test at various flow rates (multiple flow rates) such as 1, 3, 5 GPM (as example).

Multiple, pre-determined flows are possible from a Gear Pump with One Inlet and multipe Gear Sets from companies like these. A pump with 1, 2 and 3 gpm sections would allow for flows from 1 GPM through 6 GPM in 1 GPM increments.

Then you would use diverter valves to send flow from the different Pump Outlets to Tank or to the Heat Exchanger to obtain the different flow rates.

One problem I noticed from the supplier above, minimum 100 piece quantities, WOW.

For a budget of $100, do what the replies on your other duplicate post recommend. It is a lab project anyway, those are your best bet.

Oh, and duplicate posting is frowned upon around these parts.
