Punching check of long column connected by a drop beam

Referencing the above thread, should I check the punching of slab for the Axial Load in column subtracted by shear carried by beam for the full perimeter even if the beam connects to a small part of the column?
I am not actually getting the idea of punching shear failure for such type of connection.

r13, I have attached an image for your reference. The column is bounded by slab on all four sides and connected with a beam on just one side.
Should I make punching shear calculations as if there is no beam?
Many engineers use such beams in many projects just to prevent(or you can say that as they think it can prevent) punching.
I am looking to find a failure mechanism here.
 
I suggest to deduct the beam width in calculating bo, and check against the column load less the beam reaction. As mentioned by KootK, watch out concentration of forces, especially the aspect ratio is similar to wall.

r13, noted and thanks a lot for your response. Also, the unbalanced moment that should be considered for checking punching shear should be taken from column moment diagrams in both directions right?
slickdeals, I am not much aware of Eurocode. It would be helpful if you can specify the code and if possible the clause regarding such issue in it too.
