Punching shear and one way shear in footings when columns are next to each other

Hi,

In case of foundation design for one-way shear and punching shear when the columns are spaced close such that the one-way shear and two-way shear zone of influence overlaps each other (like in case of expansion joint where columns are spaced 2'-0" to 3'-0" apart), is the critical section for one way and two-way shear as shown below? Is there any reference for this?

Yes, look at ACI 318-19 for punching shear.
Fig. R13.2.7.2— Modified critical perimeter for shear with overlapping critical perimeters.

Looks like you had this question back in 2016 as well.

The critical section for one-way shear is as shown in figure 1 correct? Is it possible to have a one-way like shown on figure 2?

Punching shear (two-way) would be more of a concern, typically, in my experience.
