I have a budget of approx. $ 90 K US set aside for a scanning CMM new or used. I need to cover a measurement range up to 40" X x 60" Y x 24" Z but can live with 48" Y. Can anyone comment on my options and specifically opinions of DEA equipment.

I've never worked with a DEA machine but I have been working on a LK machine with a scanning head for a couple of months with good results. I'm not sure what the cost is but I'd be surprised if we payed more than that.

Old IE,

Look into renting or leasing a CMM. It turned out better in the short and long run for a corp i was familiar with.

Just a thought.

Before buying a used CMM check the price of new CMM's.
I have seen to many places pay more for used than new.
Stay away from CMM's that are more than 6 years old. If there are problems they are way to expensive to fix. We just purchased a Global Brown & Shape CMM 121510 for $150,000. It is 47x60x40. It came with PC-DMIS, SCANNING HEAD AND A TP-200. I used to work with a Brown & Sharpe Sale person and did service on Brown & Sharpe. How you negotiate make all the difference in price! Brown & Sharpe now owns DEA. Take your time and irrtate the hell out your sale person and ask for everything in writing. After they deliver the CMM wether you believe it or not you are on your own or your paying.
