Hi guys, I have only worked with Mixing Solution's Agitators and I observed that each of them have baffle plates attached to bottom half of the agitator. Can any one explain to me what are the baffle plates being used for.

Baffle plates are normally fixed to the tank, not to the agitator. The purpose of this type of baffle is to eliminate swirl. Do you have a picture of what your baffle plates look like?

Thank you for your answer and yes katmar, baffles are indeed attached to the vessel. No I am afraid I dont have its picture with me.

Baffles redirect the liquid radially rather than allowing it to swirl around the circumference, it improves mixing. You can see this yourself if you take a glass half full of water and swirl it around. Set the glass down and liquid keeps swirling. Drop a knife down the side of the glass and watch the fluid get redirected and mixed into the bulk of the liquid.
