All,
In running some pushover analyses we noted that the Pushover "Base Shear" force values seem to be much larger than the actual Sum of the Support Reactions at the matching step and load case. We've tried some VERY simple models and noted that they can show the same "Base Shear" and Support Reactions but on even moderately complex models (ie a square, four walled building) the results seem to diverge significantly.... To me, this would seem to be a bug... I can't find any documentation of how SAP actually calculates the "base shear" forces, so we are unable to check what is really happening.
I've contacted CSi but wanted to see if anyone else had come across this before..?
Thanks!
