PVC drainage pipes - ASTM D-2079, ASTM D-3034

I was able to find 3'' SDR-35 ASTM D-2729 pipe, as well as 3'' SDR-35 ASTM D-3034 pipe; but I was not able to find 3'' ASTM D-3034 fittings. The S&D fittings seem to typicalle come with a disclaimer "3'' meets ASTM D2949 or exceeds ASTM D2729; 4'' and 6'' meet ASTM D3034". I understand that ASTM D-2729 and ASTM D-3034 have the same outside dimensions; but can somebody please educate me why I cannot find 3'' fittings complying with ASTM D-3034, while there is 3'' pipe complying with ASTM D-3034? Thanks.

ASTM D-3034 is supposed to be a specification for 4-Inch and greater pipe.

Thanks for the replies. It looks like we have conflicting opinions, and there seems to be confusion with what's actually available on the market To be honest I think it doesn't matter in real life, but I was just trying to understand the different fitting and pipe standards.

The attached version of ASTM D-3034-00 lists 4" - 15" size pipe and fittings. Don't have a copy of the latest version, but doubt it would be different.

my version from 2008 lists 3" the 2000 edition only goes down to 4"

I guess that answers the OP's question. ASTM D-3034 covers 3-Inch pipe and 4-Inch fittings. That is why you can not find 4-Inch fittings. Probably have to use ASTM D2729 for the 3-Inch.

The answer to your question probably is related to 3-4-Inch pipe is the breakpoint between piping being residential or commercial/industrial construction
