Dear Gentlemen:

I am planning to use U-PVC pipe in lieu of DI pipe for a sewage traetment plant in hot climate area. I am aware that there are pressure rated U-PVC pipes and C-PVC pipes can be used. Also, U-PVC cannot be exposed to sun where as C-PVC can be.
In addition to the above characteristic nature of the PVC pipe, Is there any other problem which I need to consider if I use U-PVC pipe in lieu of Ductile Iron pipe?

Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

JR

It has a much higher expansion rate than steel
The uv problem can be overcome by painting the pipe.
another plastic you could also look into is abs but cost might be an issue.
ps - u stands for unplasticized pvc what does c stand for?

Is your pipe above ground or below? Is the flow under pressure, or is is gravity flow?
PVC pipe is normally not as forgiving of poor pipe bedding as D.I. pipe.
