Hello,
I'm reading a pressure vessel calculation report performed with PVElite software. Vessel is a simple vertical stainless steel vessel designed acc. to ASME VIII Div.1.
It's required to check wind and earthquake acc. to UBC.
Reading calculation report I've found something odd.
PVElite create this chart named "Wind/Earthquake Shear, Bending", a sort of summary of Wind/Earthquake shear and moment.
In this table there are 5 significant columns, which are Distance to support, Cumulative Wind Shear, Earthquake Shear, Wind Bending and Earthquake Bending.
No problem for the first 3 columns, the problems start with columns N°4 and 5.
The values of the first row of Wind Bending and Earthquake Bending columns are easy to calculate:
-Take delta values between nodes of cumulative wind/earthquake shear and multiply for the distance to support.
-Take all these multiplications values, sum them and you obtain the first values of column 4 and 5 as Wind Bending and Earthquake Bending.

What I don't understand is how PVElite obtains the other values of these columns (2nd row, 3rd row, etc...). Do you have any idea? Thanks
