Newbie here. I hope someone can help me to understand code requirement for ASME B31.3 with impact testing.
As per table 323.3.1 box A-5, the qualified thickness range is T/2 - T + 6 mm (T base metal coupon). Is my understanding is correct for below condition?
Weld condition for procedure qualification.
Test Coupon T: 45 mm
Weld thickness t: 38 mm
Qualified thickness rage as per B31.3: 22.5 - 51 mm.
For ASME Sec IX, the range will be as below
Base metal range: 5 - 200 mm
Weld metal: maximum 200 mm.
If I'm not mistaken, ASME B31.3 doesn't specify weld thickness for qualification base metal thickness.
Please help.
