I am trying to get on a vendors list to provide engineering services to a large industrial type constractor. They require a written Quality Assurance Program-one or two pages. Any ideas? Can anyone direct me to a web site that will assist me?

I believe the ISO standard for civil-structural consulting firms is 9001...for construction materials testing and engineering firms it is 17025.

if you are NOT providing services to EU countries you do not need ISO certification.

ASQC programs are more than sufficient and predate ISO.

Quality programs are the basis for not only QA but a better bottom line.

there are many sample/example programs on the internet, do a search and select something to start with or you can contract a company that provides this service.

I concur.

ISO is not only embraced by the EU these days. It is rapidly becoming international in scope...commensurate with strides in globalization.

In the case of ISO 9001, the European version of these standards is EN 29000 standards, in the US the ANSI/ASQC equivalents standards are designated ANSI/ISO/ASQC Q9000. Many other US accreditation organizations have developed accreditation criteria which conform to ISO standards and satisfies the needs of the industry they serve.

ANSI is the ISO member for the US. Both ASQC and ASQ seem to be on the ISO train.

Don't confuse a QC program with the certifications- two different things.

How large is your company? 1 person? 20? 1,000?

If it's small, this is going to be something you type up, describing how QC gets done, who is responsible for what, to what extent drawings are checked, to what extent computer output is checked, etc. It'll probably be more important that you have it, than what is actually in it.

Hi Brian

This is very simple. Just take two papers

Write on one paper what are the expectations from contractor (list down)

Write on another paper, what are processes (like softwares, drawing input / output) required to meet the expectation of contractor.

Then you combine both to get a perfect flow chart (one page document) with respect Input from contractor, process of consultancy (design, checking calculations, review of drawings), output to contractor

Hope you got my point. ISO is just

How relevant is the document "CASE 962D: A Guideline Addressing Coordination and Completeness of Structural Construction Documents" in developing a quality assurance plan? I have never read it but have been made to understand it addresses some of the issues raised.
