Hi,
I generate a Laplace contribution vector
with pdf = (1/2b)* exp(-abs(x-mu)/b) b=1 mu=0

I pass it in a quantizer (min=-4 max=4) and I would like to
compute the probability overload error.

Does anybody know how to compute it P(x)=P(X>4)+P(X<4)
theoretical and in matlab

Thanks a lot

What is the expression I have to integrate ?
pdf from -oo to +oo ?

I don;t know monte carlo unfortunately

assuming your psd has unit area then %failure=100*(1-2*integral between 0 and 4 of the psd)

monte carlo is just a simulation, where you generate a population that has the right psd and then see how many pass or fail. There may be better approaches

Cheers
