Good afternoon,
I want mesh a quarter blank with 1mm, and i try to mesh along thickness with just one layer of elements.

When i use a structured mesh, despite i seed the corners of the blank with one element, when i mesh the part appear with two layers.

Anybody can help me and said why this appens??

Look behind to see better details,

How can be seen the mesh has two elements to thickness and i just want one.
How can i do?

Hello,
Select ALL of edges along the thickness and seed by the number of elements, not by the seed size.

yes i did this, but didnt work too.

Try to do the geometry a make a mesh and you can see what i'm said.

Odly enough, it seems like you can't (bug?)
Change mesh controls (Assign mesh controls) to either sweep or bottum-up technique to achieve what you want.

yes with sweep or bottum-up i can do the mesh with just one layer. But i dont undertand why with sctructure mesh the program put a adicional layer despite i seed the edges.

If anyone knows why this appeans please contact.

yes but with structured mesh. what mesh you used? Sweep?

I have used structured option.
Try to divide your part(Tools->Partition->Cell), see Picture below, and then mesh your part.

ok thank you!

So to conclude, just works if partition mode is used, right?
I cant undertand why just doent work without partition.
I'm using sweep mesh, with this feature i perform what i want, but i continue to no understand the reason why this appeans, maybe a bug of Abaqus.

Thank you for helping!

Sometimes shape of the part is to complicated and then YOU HAVE TO divide it to a simpler parts, then meshing algorithm works fine.

Yes you right, but i think that complicated is the circular plane not the thickness plane.Through the thickness the shape is simple with two or one layer is the same.

Hello,
I'm meshing a similar geometry.
My problem is in creating parts, I cannot obtain the three parts highlighted in the figure.
I've tried the different techniques to divide this quarter of circular blank and I've looked into the example manual, but no clear help I found.
Any tip will be appreciated.
Thanks [smile]
