Quebec, Canada: Landslide

This is obviously the famous quick clay of the St. Lawerence valley somewhat the same as the quick clays of Norway.

Any takes by any body else?

I think that you are correct ecanuck.

The appearance of the ground is very much like earthquake-induced spreading from liquefaction. Expect similar behavior.

Aside from the slide, everything else looks so normal in the photos. It's almost bizarre - no earthquake damage, no floods, just this slide.

A question for the canucks in the forum: are there any specific regulations for building on the Leda clay? Something like: building is not allowed above a treshold slope angle, or similar?

Or do you just trust in your good luck?
