This is regarding query in ansys work bench.

I was intended to specify radial constraint to cylindrical surface of a part/
I created cylindrical co-ordinate system for the part.Then from Envoirnment->Given displacment->Selected the cylindrical surface->Selected the cylindrical co-ordiante system->X->0.

I solved it. Then written ansys->input file->Imported to ANSYS-> when I reviewed the displacement boundary condition on the cylindrical surface, it was constrained in X-direction with respect to Cartesian co-ordinate system and not radially as expected….

Then I created Cylindrical co-ordinate system in ANSYS. Rotated nodes on the cylindrical surface to be constrained to the active cylindrical system. Specified the radial fixity condition(X=0).Solved it. The results was as expected…..

The query is,

How to specify radial fixity boundary condition with respect to cylindrical co-ordinate system in ANSYS-Workbench…

Logesh,

I tried to repeat what you said you did in Workbench. However I was not able to select the cylindrical coordinate system for 'Given displacement'. Are you sure that you were able to select the cylindrical coordinate system while specifying 'Given displacement'?

Thanks,

Gurmeet

hai,

I am using ansys version 9.0

First I right clicked on co-ordinate system and created new cylindrical co-ordinate system....

Then from the envoirnment, specified given displacment boundary condition about newly created cylindrical co-ordinate system....
