Hi,

I am trying to simulate the non-linear column buckling behavior of a cold-formed steel stud (column) and track(beam) assembly. I have defined a general contact between the stud and track assembly and the rigid (discrete rigid)loading plate. The track and the loading plate are connected by tie constraint. Initially, I performed a dynamic explicit analysis.

Now I want to see if I can do the same analysis using the static risk method or static general method. But when I am trying to define the step I am getting messages that
"Interaction can not be used with the current procedure"

Could you please provide some direction about, what is the possible cause? Abaqus doesn't allow contact interaction in static general or static risk method?

My model looks like below:https://res.cloudinary.com/engineering-com/raw/upload/v1639254629/tips/Abaqus_tmt0sb.docx

Many thanks!

Delete the current contact definition and define new one for static/Riks step. This has to be done because Explicit uses separate general contact interactions (you may notice the solver’s name when you create the interaction).

great! many thanks for this.
