Query on modelling of discrete fastener in Abaqus

Hi,

I have a query about modeling discrete fasteners in Abaqus.

In order to do this first, I created an attachment point and an attachment line connecting that attachment points.

When I am assigning discrete fastener, there is a note in the Abaqus Edit fastener window: " A connector section must be assigned to each attachment line in the region".

However, I can't find out any tab in the edit fastener window to assign the connector section. I created a wire-based connector section separately with my connection stiffness, but I am unable to assign it to the discrete fastener.

I followed the same approach for point-based fastener and there is a tab where the connector section could be assigned.

Could anyone provide any guidance about how I can do the same for the discrete fastener?

I have attached the screenshot showing the discrete fastener window and part of my model as a ready reference.

Thank you in advance!

Do this manually, like you would when creating pure connectors. This is described in the documentation chapter "Creating and modifying connector section assignments".

Thanks! I could do this now.

Only additional question:

In the connector section assignment tab, we need to specify CSYS for orientation (of the point)1 and orientation (of the point )2.
In my case, I think both the orientation should be the same, hence, is there any difference if I choose the "use orientation 1" option in the orientation 2 tab, or do I have to specify here also?

It depends on the type of connector. For some connectors orientations are required and for some they are optional for one or both nodes. This is described in the documentation chapters corresponding to each connector type.

Thanks for your response.
