Hello,

I have modeled a 3D hip stem that is in contact with a solid that represents bone. I have tied the surfaces to create the contact between the two bodies. I am looking to determine what the shear stresses are on the surface of the stem where the surfaces are tied? Is there any way to determine these quickly? The stem is a complex geometry and therefore the surfaces do not lie directly on any of the normal planes such as 11 22 12 etc. Any information would be greatly appreciated

Tieing surface doesn't represent contact. The effect is to make the parts continuous and doesn't show separation of the parts if that were to occur. Use contact properly and then you can get the contact pressure CPRESS and the frictional shear CSHEAR where contact is made.
