Question about AC servo motor driver

Hello...Does anyone know what means when AC servo motor driver displays error code for "regenerative discharge", and stops working. What this mean in practical situation. This happens from 1 to 10 minuts after turning on. If it helps, servo motor is for one axis of cnc cutting machine. AC servo motor driver is "panasonic msda023a1a", and error code is "Err_18". Thanks.

In general, that would mean that the servo is ramping down too fast for the regeneration to "swallow" the energy and then the DC link voltage goes high and trips the alarm.

Does it also happen if you reduce feed?

Skogsgurra, I forgot to write that that is happening when motor is not moving. And also I have UPS that started about same time to beep for overloading, but i did not change anything. Does UPS can couse that or is just beeping because servo motor or driver problem? UPS and this error don't usually happen together.
 
I think that a phone call to your Panasonic distributor is the best thing to do, then.
If the two things are happening independently, I don't think they have a common cause. Or is your mains "mis-behaving" in some way? That can make the weirdest things happen. Beyond belief and human understanding, so to speak.

There might be some out of box settings on the axis motor setup that need to follow in your application.
Sometimes these settings are not followed and the programmer accepts default and does not pay attention. Then later these limit parameters come into play during heavy duty use. Reason this comes up is the software/firmware chase and sometimes the default is not the best parameter value to use due to multiple interiations of revs.

example of parameter.
ramp velocity limit - 120% of motor rated speed
current vector limit - 189% of motor rated current
torque limits - 200% of motor rated torque

other misc settings that are probably in some manufacturer of the drives pdfs.

Some times programmers don't turn off the axis but let it run to hold zero speed and if its tuned badly then you get this type of faults.
