Hello everyone,
I have question about best practice in designing of support structure of linear guides system.
I am designing a mechanism with linear motion that is going to work in very contaminated environment under high loads, with almost no requirements to precision and speed.
The idea was to use the most robust components with self alignment features.
I choose next guide linear system:

I want to install it on UPN 180 C-channel extrusion from stainless steel (EN10025).
According to standard (EN10025) geometric tolerances are to big for the rails.

Is there any general accepted design guides for this type of structure?
What do usually install under linear guides?

Thanks in advance

The most important phrase in your question is "very contaminated environment under high loads, with almost no requirements to precision and speed." In that case the very worst thing you can do is to create a surface where dirt and contaminants can accumulate, like the lower inner surface of your C-channel. If I were doing the project the first type of guide I would look at would be a v-wheel on a round rail. V-wheels have a natural "cleaning action" as they roll, and a round rail surface is less likely to accumulate contaminants. Another option is V-wheel on a V-rail.

I have had good experience with Osborn LoadRunners ( and Bishop-Wisecarver products (

Thank you for your answer.
I am totally agree with you and I made same conclusions.
I have already chose the V slide guides.
I have doubts about back structure. Since the range of motion is long, I'm trying to use as less CNC as possible.

I do not understand. Post a diagram.
