This one is also about V5R20 help file for Solid Combines creation (Solid_Combine.CATPart).
In the help chapter it says that "...how to create a solid combine, that is a solid resulting from the intersection of two or more extruded profiles."

From these words I concluded that, a least for sketch 1, the extrusion is done on both sides of the plane defined by the sketch 1. Otherwise, the term intersection would be wrong. So, CATIA automatically extrudes to both sides. Can I change it in order for the extrusion to ocurr on one side only?

Thank you

Hello rbarata,

The Solid Combine feature creates a volume by theoretically extruding the sketches to ∞ with regard to the directions imposed by the user (Normal to profile or Direction). One can obtain the same result by following these steps: [ul]
[li]Extrude both Sketches in Generative Shape Design workbench to values which permit intersection;[/li]
[li]Trim the extruded surfaces so you can obtain the enclosed space (also in Generative Shape Design workbench);[/li]
[li]apply Close Surface in Part Design workbench with the Trim feature selected.[/li]
[/ul]
So basically, the Solid Combine feature does those three steps.

Hope this helps,
Best of luck!
