Question about weld fillet reinforcement in PJP or CJP joints

Hi,

Could someone please call me and explain the objective of using fillet welds to reinforce PJP or CJP welds?

I read that they help prevent stress concentration and increase fatigue strength, but why?

I think that this is because stress is better distributed.

Also, could you recommend a book on this topic?

Yes, the reinforcing fillet weld mitigates the stress intensification that would result from a sharp corner in a T or corner joint.
