Question : How to create a point

Hi everybody,
I would like to ask a question about Geomagic qualify .
I want to create a point on a model . it is a ply file ( polygon ) .This model is a 3D recording. I would like define the x and y coordinates by myself. The z coordinate should be defined by the Programm so that the Point is in contact with surface of my model.
How can I achieve this .
