Hi all,
i have posted under standards, but just on the off chance someone might know here,

can someone confirm if the latest MV(6.6kV) ANSI code calls for the control compartment (local control, metering, protection etc) to be removed from switchgear panel and located elsewhere

mant thanks

Are you talking about arc resistant switchgear? I just purchased some arc resistant 7.2 kv gear. For that application the low voltage control equipment has to be in a separate compartment than the breaker and there can be no instruments mounted on the breaker door. As for standard switchgear I thought the low voltage equipment could still be mounted on the door where the breaker is located.

If you are talking about standard (non-arc-resistant) switchgear, I don't think there is any restriction on location of controls. If there is, it must be very recent.

It is a good idea to locate the controls elsewhere, but I don't think it is required.

Any switchgear supplier could tell you for sure.

I don't think so. If so, I've seen several recently constructed boards that don't comply.
