I'm trying to ensure a material that has been suggested by a supplier will suffice for a snap fit feature I've designed. I've been using the BASF tool to aid this process. In calculating the allowable strain, the formula I have is;
Allowable strain = 3 * Tensile strength / (Safety factor * Flexural modulus)
My question is what factor of safety would be appropriate? Its like this will be a 1 time snap fit not a fatigued fitting. Material suggested is a Recycled PP with an 18% talc fill.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.![[glasses] [glasses] [glasses]](/data/assets/smilies/glasses.gif)
