Question regarding Heat Exchanger Nameplate

I've seen a U-Tube Heat exchanger designed to EN13445 to have a nameplate which contains the field:

TYPE/SIZE: BEU / I/DIA x STRAIGHT TUBE LENGTH

Where is this derived from? Is this any old ASME Practice because I can't find any info about it.
What is the practical benefit of having the I/D and Straight tube length stamped on the nameplate. Who does it help On Site?

this is a Recommended Practice from TEMA. Who it helps is some poor schmuck of a Process Eng 20-years later trying to determine the heat transfer capacity of this Hx, without having to paw thru reams of poorly-filed records.. "BEU 16-235" gives a LOT of info to process people. And vessel inspectors.

So if you know just the length of the pipes and the I/D of the exchanger that will give you the real heat transfer capacity?
What about tube size, pitch, tube count and baffle arrangement? Because on this particular nameplate there is nothing else than design, test & operating temperatures and pressures, and contained fluid.
What is the chance anybody would be able to read this information after 20 years of service on a offshore platform in salty water?
Just thinking.
