quetion on liquid metering ststion

my question is this:
i have two liquid metering stations both are very similar in configuration, except that one has the outlet and the inlet to/from the Prover at the very end of the station, with a block valve in between outlet and inlet branches who also has block valves. The other configuration has the outlet and inlet pipe to/form Prover after the valve for maintenance of the meter but before the pressure control valve.
i would like to know if both are correct and will work properly or if there are any code rule concerning theposition of pipe connection to Prover, Thanks in advance for any comment or sugestion

The prover loop must be a close to the actual meter as possible to keep the pressures as close as possible. The loop and its componets should also be insulated.

It doesn't sound like there is a problem, but I am not clear on your description of the location of the pressure control valve in the first meter station, if there is one. Each should work, although one may be more preferable for maintenance purposes.

The prover should be connected as directly as possible to the meter (it can have fully open or fully closed block valves between them) and the pressure control valve should be downstream of a common point to both meter and prover outlets.

This is the conventional configuration,

i want to thank dcasto(chemical)and BigInch(Petroleum) for their comments, that are very valuable to me.
Just to clarify my poor description, yes, there is a pressure control valve after the block valve of the meter on the first configuration.
What i have clear now is that the second configuration is best due to less pressure losses between meter and prover.
