We are designing a vertical pressure vessel and are in need of a quick opening closure. This will act like a top removeable head. The vessel has a design pressure of 5000psi. Does anybosy know of a company that manufactures closures at this pressure? The closest that I've found is 4500psi.

Look at the designs of autoclaves and gun breaches. They use plugs or rings with lugs that lock the vessel closed with a fraction of a turn. On small vessels a V-grooved clamp ring that is spit in half is a simple design. Two bolts can hold the ring together.

Contact the company that makes them. If they can design and build a 4500 psi unit, I'll bet they can design and build a 5000 psi unit.

You don't say so, but if your vessel is a Code vessel, there are a number of specific requirements for Q.O. closures and the means to meet them is not necessarily obvious.

Mike

Bandlock 2 closures are rated up to 6000 psi.

If your closure is at a low enough temperature that you can get by with elastomeric o-rings, you have a shot at this. Depending on size, there are quite a few options.

Temperatures higher than o-rings will tolerate? Unless you can tolerate a lot of leakage, "quick opening" will be a matter of opinion or will come with a lot of cost and complexity.
