I have a review from an AHJ where the following is a comment:

Steel pipe shall be used with quick response sprinklers. I did a quick search thru NFPA codes on-line (not the best search engine) and didn't find anything.

Anyone?

If you look at the Blazemaster data sheets, you will see all over the place where it mentions using QR sprinklers with Blazemaster pipe.

Is he referring to a local amendment or something?

No. We are removing some exposed CPVC and replacing it with copper actually. CPVC has become somewhat taboo up here unfortunately. I personally think it's great stuff and usually the fault with a given installation lies with the installer, not the product. I thought I'd give the forum a nudge and see what was known before I asked the AHJ what he was talking about.

Thx Travis

maybe they have never seen a copper system???

would ask for code or standard section make it easy

than please give us the reply

Actually cd, have you ever heard of "shotgun litigation"? This is a phrase I have heard used when something goes awry and the lawyers just come in and sue everyone for everything and see what's left standing at the end of the day. I see something similar from time to time when someone has pissed off the AHJ and all of a sudden a review that might have had 5 or 6 comments on it is now 6 pages long. I'm not passing judgment on the issue other than it seems to me that a penalty in the first period should be the same as a penalty in overtime (for you hockey buffs out there). But sometimes one would just be better off staying out of the referees way for the time being.
