I just installed 2001plus and I'm having problems with the "add relation" dialog box. After adding a relation the box closes and the selected entities remain highlighted. If I want to add another relation I have to open the dialog box again and then delete the previous selected entities and then select the new ones. I've tried turning on and off the thumb-tack icon with no affect. Is this a bug or just me? I can't just continue using my previous 2001 seat because all the models are now converted to 2001plus. Thanks for your help.

Ditto, but while our dialog boxes here ramain open, the mated entities never clear themselves after the mate. Sometimes we can get them both the clear if we start the next mate by first selecting an entirely different entity.

However, it seems that if one of the previous entities are an axis , plane, or centerline, nothing seems to be able to make them self clear.

Once in a while when doing multiple mates to a single entity it actually is helpful but I find it more often a hinderance rather than a help. As well as the right click - clear selections command.

I personally liked the old way better. That is providing this is how everyone else's dialog is working?

See if it helps if you don't select the checkmark until you've added all the relations and properties you want for the selected entities. You can add and subtract selected entities as you desire, just be sure to use the ctrl key to add new entities to the list. If you click in the sketch area or select an entity without using ctrl, the properties function will start over.

Good luck,

Tim

Okay, heres the deal...

SWX 2001+ has eliminated the Dialog box from the task of adding relations while in a sketch. You no longer have to hit the add relations toolbar to create them. All you need to do now is to select one sketch entity, then Hold down the CTRL key and select the other(s) The property manager shows up where the feature manager used to be, and now gives you a context sensitive menu the shows only the possible relations that can be defined by your selections at the time. For this reason, the add relations dialog box is Passe' and theoretically need not be used.

I understand what the other fella was talking about the mated entities not clearing themselves as well. and the way that I do it when I am relating a bunch of things to the same entity, is to select the first (common) entity, then the second, create my relation, select the next entity, then CNTRL click the (common) entity again. this clears the previous entities, and re-selects the common.

hope that helps Regards,
Jon

I think the ideea of eliminating the Add Relation button is good but the execution still needs improvement. The Add Relation dialog is still there but in a modified form as you probably noticed. The way it works is like this: you select the first element then the second and so on if there are more, SW offers you the most probable relation in bold and in normal letters the other possible relations. You select one and is already applied, you don't have to click on the check mark.

The problem is that the box with elements doesn't clear itself? Sometime it does.

When the selected elements are in the same sketch, after the relation is applied, selecting another element from the sketch will automatically clear the box. When one or more of the elements are outside the sketch (from the model) selecting an element will clear the ones that are from the current sketch but will leave in the box the others. Why it does it this way? I personally see no reason.

What to do? When you know that in the box are elements that won't clear, right click on your mouse and select "clear selections". That will clear the box and keep the relations.

So SW eliminated one step but added another.

Pinning the dialog? In this case the pin doesn't work. I haven't seen any difference between having the dialog pinned and not.

Probably SW will fix these little but annoying problems soon.

Hope this helps,

Andrew

Probably SW will fix these little but annoying problems soon.

Only if someone enters it in as a bug.

If you see problems like these, no matter how little they may seem, [pc2]jot them down and enter them as a bug. You can do this through your VAR or directly through SolidWorks.[pc2] If things like this go unreported they will probably never get fixed. The more bug reports and enhancement request that we submit the more SW will grow with our needs.[thumbsup]
