I have been using the "Paste - as result with link" option to copy and past part bodies within the same CATPart. The issue is that the as result part body does not always seem to update (yes, I have update automatically checked on).

Most things update, but specifically ribs and slots, when I change these features on the parent part body the child does not seem to update, and I can't force update (the button is greyed out).

Sometimes, if I edit another feature of the parent body after editing the slot or rib, then the child will update, but not always. Sometimes, the CATPart file doesn't show it needs updated, but if I save the file, then restart CATIA and re-open the file it will need updated, then I can click the update icon and it will work correctly.

Has anyone input on this behavior? I'm on R17 (no service pack installed). 32 bit winXP.

Jay, first check the icon in front of the linked solid. It will give you a clue about what's happening. (My guess is the pointed document is not loaded). Then use EDIT + LINKS to double-check the status of the linked solid. Most of the time you can use the EDIT + LINKS panel to syncronize, load, replace, etc. the link.

Just curious: are those PartBodies published?

oops - I just re-read your post and noticed the linked solids ARE WITHIN THE SAME CATPART. Ignore my previous post.

Does the copied solid have the blue arrow in the icon?

What is the Defined Work Object? Make sure the Primary PartBody is underlined, and see if that makes a difference.
