"Check Submitted" but never starts/finishes

I'm running ABAQUS/CAE. I created a job and ran "Data Check". It says "Check Submitted" next to the job, but the Monitor shows no progress, and it's just been hanging there like that. I tried to use "Kill" to stop it, but it keeps running. I tried restarting ABAQUS, my computer, etc., but I can't kill it/get it to finish.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Forgot to mention, I'm running Windows Vista (don't know if that changes anything).

CAE sometimes looses track of jobs submitted. Usually when this happens I just look at the output files to determine where the analysis is at or I close and reopen CAE then try to kill the job. If all else fails create a new job, delete the old one and rename. I hope this helps.

After I couldn't kill the first job, I went ahead and created a new job. Unfortunately, it behaved in the same way. So now I have about 3 jobs that say "Check Submitted" with none of them actually doing anything and I can't kill any of them. =/

Does the job actually solve? Check the log file to see if it ever started or if it is just waiting in the queue. If it's in the queue then it can't find a license. Someone else might be using them or your license server may need to be restarted. I hope this helps.

I've had this happen a few times and here are a couple of things that I have done to finally kill it.

1. Close CAE, go the work folder and delete the <jobname>.lck file. When you restart CAE the job should no longer show "submitted"

2. Sometimes this works. But I have to warn you that I have only done this a couple of times and so far it doesn't kill the CAE and I can then rerun the job without restarting but it's behavior in your case may be different. With CAE still running go into the task manager and kill the "Standard" process. This will abort the check. I haven't done this with an Explicit analysis so I don't know the name of the process to kill.

Neither of these will fix the problem that is causing the check to hang up.

The jobs you submitted are probably waiting in the queue. Sometimes when that happens you can't monitor them and you can't kill them from within CAE.

You can check that by looking at the queue using the FLEXnet license manager. If that is the case you can kill the job using Task Manager (Windows) or the kill command (UNIX/Linux). You can also kill the current job(s) taking the resources if they are on your local machine.
