Hi All,

My apologies first off if this is not posted in the correct category. I looked around for a bit and could not find an ideal category to post in.

This is quite a specific request, but maybe someone on here w/ more industry knowledge than I will know something off the top of their head...

I need to put a camera inside an environmental chamber (elevated temp and RH%).
Firstly, the chamber is decently small so with the electronics, testing devices, hardware, etc. in there already, I do not have much space to work with. I need a large FOV for the camera due to what I am imaging, so I am trying to maximize the imaging distance the camera is from the device. As a result I would like the smallest camera form factor possible.
Next, I need an extended temperature range on this camera. Ideally so the internal temp of the camera can operate at 80-90 C prior to auto-shutdown.
I also need the camera to be able to operate in 90% RH. Adding shrouding/housing to the camera is OK - so long as it does not increase the dimensions of the camera by a huge amount. Also, it must be off-the-shelf as we will be propagating this design to a number of our locations and need them to be able to set up this setup easily.
Lastly, The camera needs to be able to mount w/ a lens that can hit 130 deg FOV in both X & Y direction. Resolution is less important, but a short axis resolution of ~1024 or 1080 pixels is sufficient.

TL;DR:

[li]Small form factor (critical dim length), where camera + lens <= 120 mm. Ignore any cable bend radius[/li]
[li]Internal temp range 80-90C. (camera will be at steady state 70 C, but will only operate shortly before being turned off)[/li]

I have been having the hardest time tracking down "extended temp range" cameras since on most search engines most results are populated by thermal cameras.
Searching for "High temp cameras" results is extremely high temperature cameras (able to withstand 100s of C), and these, of course, all come in quite large form factors due to the extreme temp range they have.

Ideal form factor is ~120 mm in length (camera + lens, not including any cable bend radius).

One solution I have found is However, the temp range is not quite high enough for us.

Price is a non-issue here.
Again - I wouldn't be surprised if this is too involved for a forum post to get any responses, but you never know!

No camera readily available will tolerate more than about 55C; there's a limit of about 150C for anything electronic, since the semiconductor junctions degrade quickly above 125C ambient temperature. Given those limits, a custom camera is possible, but the lead time will be long

You could possibly build some sort of view port into the thermal chamber.

The key is in the proper search terms... look for "AEC-Q100 Grade 2" cameras, then you should be able to find a number of options that go above +100C.

With that in mind, I would consider a simple COTS camera looking through a window/port into the chamber. If it's just a thermal chamber, may not have ports, but any reasonable vacuum thermal chamber will...

The only thing I could find with that search term with "camera" pulls up an Omnivision sensor chip, which is a long ways from a full-up camera. Moreover, the 105C applies to the camera ambient, which is typically 5 to 10 degrees above the external ambient, which would just barely deal with up to 90-95C external ambient

Here's the datasheet, IR:

Camera junction temp is 125C (at 105 ambient), so I see no reason why this wouldn't work with headroom. Ambient is ambient... the air surrounding the camera isn't (appreciably) hotter than all of the other air. The camera uses ~1W of power, and the junction temp versus ambient is already taken into account.
