I feel silly asking this question, but I've searched high and low on the internet and can't find a pump solution for my needs. The requirement is 500 ft of head (including losses) at 6 gallons per minute flow rate. I have 240 volt service available. Most "deep well" pumps seem to tap out at 100 ft or so. The highest I've found is 300 ft. I do not need submersible.

I am looking for a selection of pumps that service this range. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks for your response! Am I reading something wrong on these pumps? I see the following line in the specs for the pump you mentioned:

Max. Head (Ft.) 288

I need 500 feet. I've studied Granger and can't find any pump that can lift 500 ft. of head (even looking at 12 hp 3ph $5000 type pumps). As a matter of fact, nothing over 285 ft.

6 GPM at 500 Feet, assume 60 Hertz. Grundfos Model CR(E)1-19(E).

See page 30 for curve.

This is a 19 stage clean water pump with threaded in and out. This will require a flooded suction to be safe. This model is fitted with a 3 HP 3600 motor and can be had in single or three phase. Goulds also makes one.

You will need to cut and paste the entire link. Clicking will not work.

Input your parameters there.. they'll find you a pump. Then call a local supplier, give them the pump model.. Tell them that you need a gear reducer & motor for it, and a mounting frame. Also give them your electrical service. Do you need a VFD? Call a local Baldor supplier and you can pick up a VS1PF + remote control switch for about $1000

Edit.. you're only look at 200-225 psi. While that is a high pressure, it's nothing for those plunger pumps I linked. They can easily do 1000-1500 psi.

Hi Folks,

Thanks for all the responses. Indeed I see pumps now that will easily do what I need, but where do I price them? How does one shop for these pumps? Is there a good on-line dealer that posts prices?

Thanks again.

An industrial pump - whatever brand and type - is an engineered product. Don't buy such a machine online. If you are willing to spend the money, ask a person (not a computer) to come up with a proposal. Let him come to your office and ask all the questions you have. If you then feel comfortable with the product and the company, you'll buy it.

Micalbrch is right, if you are specifying a pump of any kind, it is almost always a good idea to contact a vendor and discuss your application.

Generally, they're more than willing to come and understand what you need and how/if they can provide for you. Then you can post what they say you need here and we can pick it apart like a pack of hungry wolves. :)

Thanks for the advice. I live in Costa Rica so a visit to my office would probably be too much to ask...hmmm...or maybe not :) Any suggestions as to a good company/sales person to call would be appreciated.

O.k. Costa Rica is a little bit remote for most companies. Grundfos (SteveWag's advice) have an office in Mexico. Call them and ask what they have in Costa Rica.

For a triplex plunger pump I recommend to ask CAT (I have no relation with them). They have a distributor in Costa Rica:

Hydromundo, S.A.
City: Escazu
Phone: 506 228 8857
Fax: 506 256 4769

Thanks a ton. I'll let you know when I've made some progress.
