I'm interested in any book (or article) which discusses location selection for different units, building, equipment, ... in a plant, logically. Any help is highly appreciated.

I should advise:

Process Plant Layout and Design
Ed. Bausbacher and Roger Hunt
Auerbach Publishers
ISBN 0-7913-0543-5

By "location selection"..... do you mean Plant Arrangement and Layout ?

Although dated, the Bausbacher and Hunt book is the only one on that topic I have ever found.

Sadly, someone should develop a new book on this important topic, but ......unfortunately it would never sell.... it would only be stolen and posted on the internet.

Most of the rapidly-aging plant layout people I know have a sloppy binder packed full of TEXACO, PPG Bechtel FLUOR and other company guidelines that they use. I have developed a small library myself.

The old three volume set of "piping design" guidelines by Rip Weaver contained some plant layout inforamation also.....

Good luck !

Mr. Cronin,

I think mr. McDermott has some studiing to do on the Bausbacher book.
Please, Write a new book about it.
I'm very curious about the new developments.

europipe,
You wrote:"Please, Write a new book about it. I'm very curious about the new developments."

What is the "It" you are talking about and what "New Developments" are you talking about?

prognosis: Lead or Lag

You have got plenty of info, I understand.I want to learn, write about it.
Please, I don't understand Lead or Lag,
my English is terrible.

"Lead" means that you are out in front of everyone else.
"Lag" means that you are way behind everyone else.
The "or" means that it's your choice.
You can either be a Leader or you can be a follower.

I suggest you go to this website (pipingdesigners.com) and read everything you find there under the "Tabs" for Training, Tips and Tools.

There is even an article there that addresses the subject you seem to be interested in (
In the Forum there is also a list of some of the great books about Plant Layout and other piping design subjects (
