"over-dot" in Microsoft Word and Excel

Here's a real intellectually stimulating question for the group...

In Microsoft Excel and Word, where do I find the over-dot symbol for rate, for example: "Q-dot"? I can't seem to find it anywhere...

try Insert==>Object==>Equation Editor (XL).

try Insert==>Symbol or Equation Editor for Word.

No other technique that I know of . . .

I know how to insert symbols, I just can't seem to find the Q-dot symbol amongst the 50,000 other symbols

Insert?field?Eq

Then select the button to the right that says "Equation Editor". Type your letter (Q) then select the third box (which has symbols like ?). Select the third row first column symbol (which looks like a box with a dot over it). Hit "esc"

Don't ask how to make it non-italicized — haven't figured that out!

Patricia and Plasmech,

try one of the "Style" fonts when using the equation editor for changing to non-italics characters.

Oh! highlight the text or part of equation first before making the Style change.
