While I am certified, all that means is I took the test and passed. I have a question regarding EPA regulations on recovery processes.

1. Assume I have a type II machine and recovered 20 lbs. of R-22 into a recovery cylinder.

2. I perform maintenance on the machine.

3. I evacuate the machine.

4. I charge the machine from the recovery cylinder, but I am only able to get 19 lbs out of the cylinder. The other 1 lb is now vapor.

What is my requirement for the remaining 1 lb?

Thanks in advance!

blutfort, All you need to do is stick the bottle in in a bucket of warm water, I guarantee you will get most of that last lb out

EPA-wise, your only requirement is to not discharge it to the atmosphere.

Since most recovery machines can pull a vacuum, common practice these days seems to be to consolidate many such cylinders into one cylinder, and send to a recycler. If you are servicing a single client, and you are confident it is clean, you can reuse.
